Intro Level Offerings at Moody Street Circus

Moody Street Circus family circus arts studio coaches and integrates students through group intro mini-sessions and private lessons.

Intro Level Mini Sessions are offered about 1-2x per year. Students on our intro level waitlist will be notified when registration for an intro course opens via email.

Intro-to-aerial arts sessions are one way to join Moody Street Circus with no prior circus/aerial experience.

Our group-style intro programming is offered relatively infrequently so that we can focus on growing the strong and creative aerialists that emerge from each new session. Before joining an MSC intro session we organize a consultation with interested students to discuss the course and any questions.

When we do offer our intro-to-aerial arts courses the sessions may last 4-7 weeks with 75-90 minute classes. Cost per session depends on course length and class time. Costs range from $160-$400. For some intro sessions a 1:1 private lesson is included in registration at a discounted rate.

All MSC classes are for students ages 15 & up.

Private training is available for 1 to 8 students at a time. Intro level private lessons start at $100. If you are interested in starting your aerial journey with us at Moody Street Circus through a trial private session, please reach out to schedule a consult!

Moody Street Circus is unable to say exactly how many private lessons would be required before a student is eligible to attend our group beginner classes. It varies from person to person based on the strength and body awareness they begin their circus arts journey, along with so many other factors! Intro students starting their circus arts practice with private or semi-private lessons at Moody Street Circus should know our goal is always to bring you “to the next level” comfortably and at an appropriate pace.

Practice and repetition IS the fun part for us!

Students can create their own “circus arts session” by scheduling private lessons with their friends.

What will I learn in an Intro to Aerial mini session?

During an intro to aerial arts mini session at Moody Street Circus students will learn:

The foundational skills, wraps, safety details, conditioning drills, and techniques for aerial silks. Students will begin to explore linking skills to create short flows and combinations that will help build their muscles and endurance. These details and skills will depend on the apparatus of the intro session.

One of our goals during an intro session is to prepare our students for the pre-requisites of the beginner level for that apparatus. By the end of the session our goal is that students are able to safely and confidently execute those skills with grace. View studio pre-requisites here!

What happens after the intro-session is complete?

Once a student has completed an intro-level aerial arts mini-session they are typically able to progress to our beginner classes.

It is important that students take their conditioning outside of the studio seriously to maintain safe practice. However some students may need more than 3-4 classes to feel comfortable with the material - and that is normal!

Private lessons can supplement training, or one can re-join the waitlist for another intro level session.

After an intro-level session or private lesson concludes we make personal recommendations to students for the best option to continue their practice.
